About John Thompson
John Thompson was appointed CEO of User Replay in January 2013, following a spell as its chairman. He also has experience as a non-executive director, trouble-shooter and an entrepreneur. He has worked on the boards of half a dozen tech startups in as many years and has had a significant positive impact on all of them.
In the early days of his career (2001) John co-founded Commerce Decisions, a procurement software company that he grew to £5.5m turnover and 40 staff in seven years before selling to QinetiQ plc in 2008. He then spent three years with QinetiQ growing the Commerce Decisions division; turning around an acquired software business; and also merging three consulting practices.
After this he got involved with a number of privately-owned technology start-ups, mainly on behalf of their venture capital owners. He concurrently held a mix of executive and non-executive roles on their boards so that he could help them grow to the next stage.
John has a 1st class degree in Computer Science, and outside work he keeps busy with his four children, and enjoys sailing, snowboarding and world travel.
