About Andrew Thorp
Andrew coaches essential communication skills with particular emphasis on leadership, building networks and public speaking/presenting.
After 22 years in the golf & leisure industry (as a referee, operations manager, journalist, consultant and coach) Andrew underwent a life-changing experience and reinvented himself, establishing his reputation as a business speaker, writer and trainer.
In 2009, he founded Speakeasy Groups in NW England, a series of monthly networking sessions for people looking to improve their presentation skills and business message. He also drew on his own experiences of reinvention to co-found MojoLife, a training & development company that promotes storytelling in business and authentic, ‘inside-out’ communication.
As a business speaker Andrew explains how business leaders, salespeople, job seekers and other would-be influencers can use persuasive presentation techniques to achieve their aim. He calls it 'connectation skills', the ability to connect with, and emotionally move an audience with a powerful and compelling message. He also helps clients build support for their ideas through social media and other strategies like organising events, speaking in public and writing books & articles.
Storytelling can have a powerful impact within organisations too, and MojoLife's Story Clubs encourage greater engagement, motivation and cross-departmental cooperation.
Clients include: Unilever, Beaverbrooks, Weber Shandwick, Academy for Chief Executives, KPMG, ASE plc, Rotary International, Deloitte, General Medical Council and World Health Organisation.
Other activities: Co-Founder and interviewer for MojoLife TV and Mojo Live After 5 (based on a TV chat show).
Regular speaker at business events & conferences, including TEDx Warwick (2010) & Salford TEDxChange (2012), North West Business Show, Dutch-Slovenia Business Forum, BKR Conference Romania and many others.
Guru lecturer for the Career Academies UK and AIESEC international recruit organisation.
